Shoaib Akhtar chucks Cricket for TV show

Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar will be kicking his heels again... this time on a television show. The speedster has bagged a deal with a top Indian TV company. He left on Saturday for India from Lahore to participate in the show.

When a busload of reporters swarmed around him at the airport, he insisted that his main priority was to play a few end season matches for Surrey, rather than shaking his hips on TV.

"I am going to India for a day to fulfil a commitment to take part in a television show and after that I will fly out to England to join Surrey," he said to the locust like reporters.

Poor Akhtar did not have a rosy welcome in England... immigration officials did not let him enter since his work permit and Visa documents apparently weren't valid. He will now be reaching Surrey on Sunday.

Akhtar also took a nudge at the Pakistan Cricket Board. "The eventual aim," he said ,"is to play for Pakistan and I feel Surrey offers me the best opportunity to prove my fitness. I am keen to prove myself to the selector and resume my Pakistan career."
